I was just adding a knockback to enemies when they are hit, but on the initial experimental test, I wasn't able to tell if the knockback worked since the enemy continue its normal behavior, so it got me thinking "oh I need a hurt stage", but then, since chibi game will be gun only, I'm torn on whether enemies should react to being shot or not AKA stagger, as in being interrupted by being hit like chibi is.
Generally speaking, in games like Mega Man, enemies do not flinch from getting shot unless you hit them with a weakness or something particularly-effective.
ResponderEliminarI do prefer when enemies flinch, but one might argue it makes the game easier since you might be able to "kite" enemies. It also depends on the amount of knockback, the enemies speed, your attack speed and range.
ResponderEliminarI think a good compromise will be enemies would flinch only when being hit by a charge shot. Any other time, they would just get pushed a bit backwards with no animation interruption.
